Chapter History

2019 ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Membership: Exceeded 81% of membership level
  • Corporate Involvement: Referred three corporations for membership with AFCEA International; Secured sponsorship of three General Membership Meetings
  • Scholarships / Education: $10,000.00 in Scholarships awarded
  • Awards: Achieved Model Chapter of the Year, Model Young AFCEAN Program, Chapter Diversity Award
  • Events: Hosted a total of 12 events including a Golf Scramble Fundraiser
  • Major Accomplishments:
    • Chapter elected it's first ever female Vice President, Ms. Kathryn Thompson.
    • The principal focus for 2019 was to create more events and more opportunities for the community to come together. This is reflected in our goal of one event every month for 8 months. We acutally did 12 events which exceeds all previous years in terms of events. 12 events accomplished in 10 months. Goal was higher than previous years and achieved 50% more than the set goal during this year.
    • Achieved $10K in Scholarships awarded plus $4000 award in other outreach including Angel Tree contributions and Deployed Soldier Care Packages.

 

2018 ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Events: Hosted eight events

    • Chaper hosted it's first large Women in AFCEA Event

 

2017 ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Corporate Involvement: Thirteen sponsors contributed to chapter events and fundraisers
  • Scholarships / Education: $4,000.00 in Scholarships awarded
  • Awards: Achieved Model Chapter of the Year, Model Young AFCEAN Program
  • Award recipients included: Major General Merritte W. Ireland Meritorious Service Award - Bruce Shackett and Kim Kimbrough; General George S Patton Jr. AFCEAN Leadership Award - William Heidenreich and Domanic Ledbetter; Major General Marcia M Anderson Young AFCEAN Emerging Leader 2017 - Bethany Begley and Derek Massey; Admiral Grace Hopper Information Technology Service Award - Angela AlexanderMendoza.   • Events: Hosted nine events
  • Major Accomplishments:
    • VP of Women in AFCEA Outreach, Joy Begley, hosted the first Gold Vault Chapter Women in AFCEA event

  • Corporate Involvement: More than 9 Sponsors participated.
  • Scholarships / Education: $4,000.00 in Scholarships and $1,000.00 in Teacher Grant Awarded
  • Awards: Achieved Model Chapter of the Year
  • Events: Hosted eight events
  • Major Accomplishments:
    • Gained new corporate sponsorships

 

2015 ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Membership: Exceeded 60% member retention
  • Corporate Involvement: More than five corporate sponsors participated.
  • Scholarships / Education: $4,000.00 in Scholarships awarded.
  • Awards: Achieved Model Chapter of the Year
  • Events: Hosted ten events
  • Achieved all goals for the year

 

2014 ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Membership: Exceeded 60% member retention
  • Corporate Involvement:
  • Scholarships / Education: $15K in Scholarships awarded
  • Awards: Achieved Model Chapter of the Year
  • Major Accomplishments:
    • For the third year running we were awarded the Model Chapter of the Year award.
    • The chapter awarded $15,000.00 in scholarships to seven deserving students from our local community.
    • Our total awarded scholarships, since inception, is more than $40,000.00.
    • We conducted four General Membership meetings and four Young AFCEAN Lunch and Learn events providing training and industry specific sessions to our members.
    • Our Young AFCEAN Program supported and promoted Young AFCEAN involvement in leadership positions and participation in subcommittees and special events.
    • We achieved more thatn 60% of total member retention on the whole and in our Young AFCEAN Program

 

2013 ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • Membership: Achieved 60% member retention

  • Corporate Involvement: Gained 9 new corporate sponsors supporting the chapter and fundraising events.

  • Scholarships / Education: Awarded two lift-off scholarships and two STEM teacher scholarships

  • Events: Held General Membership meeting April 16th, August 7th and December 11th. Golf Scramble Oct 30-31.

  • Young AFCEAN: Young AFCEAN Professional Development Luncheon May 29th, Topic: HTML5 Workshop, Speaker: Wes Reisz

  • Young AFCEAN: Young AFCEAN Professional Development Luncheon July 24th, Topic: IT Service Management, Speaker: John Tharpe

  • International Awards: Regional Distinguished Young AFCEAN, Mr. Anthony Day.

  • International Awards: Model Young AFCEAN Program

  • Awards: Submitting successful Model Chapter goals! Presented multiple AFCEA Lifetime memberships.

  • Major Accomplishments: 

    • Met all major milestones. 

    • Exceeded financial expectations on Golf Scramble, achieving full sponsorship and executing under budget. 

    • General membership meeting and scholarship presentations successful. 

    • Great growth of our Young AFCEAN programs.

  • Membership: Achieved 125 total members with 82% retention

  • Corporate Involvement: HP, SAIC and BAH sponsored ACFEA Fort Knox GVC events

  • Scholarships / Education: $5K Scholarship awarded, chapter program ready

  • Awards: Achieved Model Chapter of the Year

  • Major Accomplishments:

    • Established bylaws and stood up Chapter

    • Established Board of Directors and Executive Committee

    • Established operational and scholarship business processes, documentation, funding and capability

    • Grew membership at peak to 142

    • Established web and social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin)

    • Met all Strategic and Model Chapter Goals

    • Established Chapter newsletter

    • Established the Chapter online historical document capability
