The AFCEA Fort Knox Gold Vault Chapter Awards program recognizes individuals or groups whose contributions in information technology have significance beyond their organization. These contributions represent achievements that advance business and citizen interaction, leading to improved effectiveness, cost-savings and leadership that meet local and national priorities and serve as a model of excellence.

Local Chapter Awards

General George S. Patton, Jr., AFCEAN Leadership Award

DESCRIPTION: This award is the premier local chapter award for exemplary services to the AFCEA Fort Knox Gold Vault Chapter over the past 12 months.

CRITERIA: Nominee must be a member of AFCEA, who has made significant current contributions toward furthering the goals and objectives of the Association. Nomination should include some or all of the following information:
Overall justification as to how and why candidate exemplifies the consummate AFCEAN
Explanation showing how candidate's AFCEA participation exceeds the norm
Outline of candidate's total AFCEA involvement, with detailed emphasis on current activities
Description of ways in which candidate involves his or her organization/people in AFCEA activities
Details about candidate's specific contributions in support of AFCEA's mission, goals and objectives

Major General Merritte W. Ireland, Meritorious Service Award

DESCRIPTION: This is a mid-career award for meritorious contributions to AFCEA and to the community.

CRITERIA:Nominee must be a member of AFCEA, who has made significant current contributions toward furthering the goals and objectives of the Association. Nomination should include some or all of the following information:
Nominee must be an active member of AFCEA
Nominees will be judged on a record of significant contributions to the Association and the community, in combination with exceptional professional performance in the fields of communications, electronics, intelligence and information systems. (Note: AFCEA contributions will be more heavily weighed in the decision process.)
At least two years involvement in assisting the Association meet and/or exceeds local Chapter or International goals
Demonstrated specific initiatives taken to strengthen AFCEA (e.g., recruiting, sponsorship, special events, measures to increase participation, involvement of organization/colleagues, etc.)
Previous Chapter recognition/awards/achievements
Other professional awards/achievements.

Major General Marsha M. Anderson, Young AFCEAN Emerging Leader Award

DESCRIPTION: This award recognizes exceptional performance in two areas: superior technical achievement in the professional arena and a record of going "above and beyond" at the local AFCEA Chapter level.

CRITERIA: Nominee must be a member of AFCEA, who has made significant current contributions toward furthering the goals and objectives of the Association. Nomination should include some or all of the following information:
Nominee must be under the age of 40
Overall justification as to how and why candidate exemplifies the consummate AFCEAN
Explanation showing how candidate's AFCEA participation exceeds the norm
Outline of candidate's total AFCEA involvement, with detailed emphasis on current activities
Description of ways in which candidate involves his or her organization/people in AFCEA activities
Details about candidate's specific contributions in support of AFCEA's mission, goals and objectives

International Awards

Distinguished Young AFCEAN (DYA)

DESCRIPTION: The Distinguished Young AFCEAN Award recognizes and rewards exceptional performance in two areas: superior technical achievement in the professional arena and a record of going "above and beyond" at the local AFCEA Chapter level. The AFCEA Regional Vice Presidents have the honor to personally select an individual from their Region to receive the Regional Distinguished Young AFCEAN Award. These honorees represent an elite group of individuals.

CRITERIA: Nominee must be a member of AFCEA, who has made significant current contributions toward furthering the goals and objectives of the Association. Nomination should include some or all of the following information:
Individual must be a current AFCEA member
Must be forty (40) years of age or under as of December 31, 2013
Nomination must be endorsed by the nominee's AFCEA Regional Vice President (RVP)
Individual cannot already have won a Distinguished Young AFCEAN award
Nominations will be open in August 2013 and will close in September 2013
